One rayrnof sunshine in the dark days of rationing and nightly bombings, however, was the collection and publication, by Faber & Faber, of slang terms used by His Majesty's armed forces, compiled by two enterprising young officers; Fit Lt J.L Hunt of the RAF and Lt A.G. Pringle of the Royal Artillery.
