From Eagle to Python

B by the end of 1944 construction of components for the first and second W.34 prototypes, TS371 and TS375, was in progress at Yeovil. A major obstacle to progress with the prototypes throughout 1945 was the lack of Eagle engines, none of Rolls-Royce's several promised delivery dates being kept.rnIn parallel, Westland's redesign for a turboprop version was going ahead. Moreover, in early 1946 Rolls-Royce warned of serious delays with its Clyde turboprop and Westland was instructed to examine the use of the Armstrong Siddeley Python turboprop instead.
