Volksjaeger put up for sale

Heinkel he 162A-2 Volksjaeger WNr 120086, acquired by Sussex-based Aero Vintage from the Canada Aviation Museum in 2006 (see News, February 2007 Aeroplane) is for sale. Aero Vintage boss Guy Black says, "The Heinkel 162 has always held a fascination for me. This one is in superb, original condition and just about as complete as you could expect. We have debated whether to restore it to flying condition, but it seems like sacrilege to rebuild this timewarp museum piece. There are substitute engines we could use, or rebuild the unused original, but the take-off performance is marginal and it would be unwise to operate it from our base at Duxford, so we are letting it go".
