Flying for Pleasure

Last month on this page I highlighted, among other matters, the threat to Dakota pleasure-flights - our newspages broke the story about new EU airline safety rules which have the unintended consequence of requiring DC-3s to be fitted with inflatable emergency escape slides. Yes indeed, it's disproportionate "Elf and Safety" gone mad.rnThis madness was underlined when, on February 12,1 had the great pleasure of visiting Air Atlantique at Coventry and flying in one of its Daks. It was a feast for all five senses - it feels, looks, sounds and smells so different from, and so much richer than, bland modern airline flying. And as for the fifth sense: anyone with taste will surely enjoy a propliner!
