Douglas C-47 Copilot

The C-47 (or Dakota in Com-monwealth use) was developed from the Douglas DC-3, the most successful air-liner of its era. The C-47 pilot's role was essentially the same as that of the prewar airline pilot, although the tasks the USAAF undertook were a lot more challenging. It was said that the airlines taught the military to fly the C-47, and the military taught the airlines how to overload it. But whatever they did, it coped.
