In October 2009 two of the UK's best-known women display pilots, Carolyn Grace and Anna Walker, arranged to work together on a display routine designed to pay tribute to the 168 female pilots who flew with the Air Transport Auxiliary (ATA) during World War Two.rnAs a civilian organisation that ferried combat aircraft all over the UK from factories, maintenance units, delivery depots and active service airfields, the ATA freed operational pilots to focus on combat operations.
