Grahame-White Watchtower to move to RAF Museum

A turf-cutting ceremony was held close to RAF Museum Hendon on December 7, 2009, marking the start of work to relocate the historic 1911 Grahame-White Watchtower building on to the museum's site. Built in 1911, the now-derelict building was once the centrepiece of aviation pioneer Claude Grahame-White's aircraft factory. Work is being undertaken by property developers St George PLC, whose managing director, Ross Faragher, says, "The historic building will be rejoined to the Grahame-White Factory hangar at the museum, and is set to become an important learning resource reflecting the achievements of this early aviation pioneer". The Grahame-White factory hangar was rebuilt on the museum site in 2002.
