The rotodyne parallels Other innovative British aviation projects cancelled by the deadly mix of timidity, politicians and accountants. It could have been in service from the late 1960s, ultimately replacing the Boeing-Vertol Chinook and pre-dating the Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey in both civil and military roles.
