On March 31, 1951,rnShackleton MR.1 VP260rnwas delivered torn120 Sqn at RAF Kinloss, Morayshire, for acceptance trials, the first taking place on April 17. By the end of May eight Shackletons had arrived there, the unit's Lancasters going to No 236 Operational Conversion Unit (OCU). This unit, in turn, received its first MR.1, VP264, on June 4 for instructor training. A period of intensive "shakedown" flyingfor 120 Sqn then began, one machine flying 17hr per day for ten days. The biggest criticism was the lack of soundproofing.
