Memorial unveiled to Lancaster crew

On april 10 at the Church of St Michael the Archangel in Halam, Nottinghamshire, a memorial was unveiled to seven crew members killed when Avro Lancaster ED823 crashed near Halam during a training flight from RAF Winthorpe. The ceremony, held 68 years to the day after the accident, was attended by relatives of those lost in the crash, some having travelled from Australia and Canada. Also present were representatives of the RAF, Royal Canadian Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force, civic dignitaries and many local villagers who had helped arrange construction of the memorial.
