Harrier's Final Bow

Decommissioned as part of the Strategic Defence and Security Review announced late last year, the first event in a series of historic milestones leading to the retirement of the Harrier took place on November 24,2010, when UK Flagship HMSArk Royal facilitated the last-ever launch of Harrier GR.9s from its decks. For many years now RAF Wittering has been called "Home of the Harrier"; GR.l XV746 being the first to be delivered to an operational RAF unit, No 1(F) Sqn, in April 1969.
