Auster J-l Autocrat G-AJRE seen during its first flight in Gulf Aviation livery. It made its last flight in the UK on March 2,2012. The aircraft is currently dismantled and receiving attention by Martin Slater before being freighted out to the Al Mahatta Museum at Sharja in the United Arab Emirates, where it will initially be kept airworthy, ian frimstone Sir, I was more than interested to read the story in the news section on page 14 (Aeroplane, May) of my old Auster Autocrat, G-AJRE. I acquired this aircraft in 1985. It had been languishing in the back of the hangar at Headcorn, Kent, for some time, and had been partly restored by its then owner R. Gammage, who at the time was a Gulf Air Captain.
