Sywell's double

The Sywell Aviation Museum scored a double triumph at the annual Northamptonshire Heritage Awards, held at Boughton House, Northants, on July 18. The first award was for the Best Special Project, the most hotly contested category of the night with six shortlisted projects in the category, which the museum won for "Operation Hawker Hunter", which saw Hunter F.2 WN904 go on show at Sywell in August 2012 as the only preserved aircraft on public display in Northamptonshire. The second award was the number one museum in the Peoples' Choice category, as voted for by the public. Museum spokesman Ben Brown says: "We were absolutely stunned to discover we had won - against Heritage Lottery Funded museums, those with paid full time staff and professional PR and fundraising teams!"
