At Kvarnhem Aerodrome, near Sebbarp in central Sweden, well-known vintage aircraft restorer and display pilot Mikael Carlson has repainted his FVM E.1 Tummelisa advanced trainer reproduction in a colourful Ace of Hearts insignia, originally applied to the fifth production example during 1925. Carlson built the machine duringthe 1980s, fitting it with an original 90 h.p. Thulin A engine, which was tself a copy of a Le Rhone unit. A total of 28 Tummelisas were built to a design by Goesta von Poratand Henry Kjellson, the prototype making its maiden fight in June 1920. The type had a long career serving with the Swedish Air Force until 1935.
