Swedish Vertols sold off

At Malmen air base near Linkoeping in southern Sweden, 11 of the 14 Boeing/Kawasaki Vertol 107 helicopters retired by the Swedish Armed Forces in 2010 have been sold to Columbia Helicopters Inc of Portland, Oregon. The type has a long history in Sweden - the first examples entered service with the Swedish Air Force way back in 1963 - so three examples of this versatile twin-engined workhorse have been retained for museums. The last service flight in Sweden of the venerable HKP 4 took place on March 1,2011,when HKP 4C, 04070 c 4083/Y70, flew from its former home in Ronneby to Save Airport outside of Gothenburg where it was formally handed over to the underground aviation theme experience centre Aeroseum at Save Airport, just outside of Gothenburg. The Aeroseum also has HKP 4C c 4083, which it plans to keep as a flying exhibit, and another example is due at Save for static display once it has been stripped of parts for spares use with Columbia Helicopters.
