No wonder so much spontaneous applause rang out at IWM Duxford's Battle of Britain Anniversary Air Show on 19-20 September. A hugely enthusiastic, capacity crowd, the most appropriate of venues, marvellous early autumn weather, and one of the finest routines seen at any recent display in the 17-ship Spitfire and Seafire highlight - it had everything. To be there was to immerse oneself in exploring the events of 75 years ago. Living history groups re-enacted activities at a typical Fighter Command dispersal point, while the museum had a new 'Duxford's People in the Battle of Britain' exhibition featuring personal details and mementoes from seven individuals based there in 1940.
