Sometimes it takes a special event or meeting to remind us not to take flying for granted. I was privileged last month to be part of two such events which made me reflect on just how great it is to be involved in aviation. Those who know the LAA headquarters building at Turweston Aerodrome, Northamptonshire, will know that we have access to a superb conference room on the upper floor. We therefore decided that, as the summer flying season was coming to a close, we'd use this facility for a couple of events. The first of these was organised at relatively short notice, as a result of a Turweston Flying Club member commenting that he had met a World War Two Lancaster pilot who would be keen to share his experiences.
