Hurricane experts Hawker Restorations (see pages 100-104) are embarking on a project to build the world's only two-seat version of the fighter, enabling passengers to experience flying in a genuine Battle of Britain veteran. The Suffolk-based company, founded by Tony Ditheridge, is advanced with plans to restore a two-seat Hurricane to airworthy condition more than 70 years after the Hawker Aircraft factory designed a dual-cockpit variant during the Second World War. That machine was intended for the Persian military but delivery was delayed by the conflict. It originally had two open cockpits for the crew. In service, however, several Hurricanes were unofficially converted to accommodate a passenger in the rear seat.
