It appeared to be a case of 'cometh the hour, cometh the shower' on Friday 13 July, the opening day of RIAT 2018, and the focus of its RAF centenary celebrations. Following the morning's fairly low-key royal review of RAF aircraft, poor weather both at Fairford itself and en route for those aeroplanes operating from elsewhere forced the cancellation of the afternoon's planned flypast, a smaller version of that seen over London the previous Tuesday.
