Seek and Strike: RAF Brueggen in War and Peace

While Nigel Walpole is perhaps best-known for his written works on some of the aircraft types he has flown, these including the unloved (by many, but not all) Swift and the Hunter FR10, here he tackles the history of RAF Brueggen. Walpole has first-hand experience of Brueggen, having been OC Operations Wing there from 1977. The airfield, designed to meet the needs of post-war NATO jet aircraft, was built in the Elmpt Forest on the German border with the Netherlands, becoming operational in 1953.
