Abingdon Airlifters

The 1967-68 period was one of transition for the RAF's air transport force. A new generation of types was arriving, and the air force was being restructured with the result that Transport Command became Air Support Command to reflect its revised role. Malcolm Martin witnessed these changes taking place at RAF Abingdon, the Oxfordshire station having long been home to the service's airlifters.
