Mildenhall, 20 May 1992, and an F-117A touches down to take part in Air Fete '92, as RAF pilot Sqn Ldr Chris Topham settles serial 85-0830 onto the runway at the Suffolk base. It's the first time the type has landed in the UK. Or is it? For several years, rumours had abounded about clandestine deployments to these shores. Some said they'd been to Sculthorpe, others to Machrihanish, or even Binbrook. There were reports of F-117s being seen at Alconbury against the light of the moon. None have ever been verified, no documentary evidence presented, and F-117 pilots from the period have stated that no such visits occurred. But there is a connection.
