My involvement with B-25J Mitchell N6578D started in September 1967.1 was working as a mechanic for a company in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, called Hill Aircraft. The aircraft, owned by the infamous John Hawke, was being restored as per his requirements for use in the making of the Battle of Britain movie. I knew very little about B-25s. The aircraft had serious corrosion problems and there were questions about its structural integrity. Hawke was not in the least concerned. When questions were raised, his response was always the same: "Fix it — it will be OK". We did nothing to the engines. The fabric on the rudders and some stress panels were replaced and a lot of corrosion control was performed.
