Dressing for controlling severe, life-threatening bleeding

Advanced haemorrhage control wound dressings are disclosed in US Patent 7 482 503 by Providence Health System-Oregon.The dressing is formed of a biomaterial comprising chitosan for the control of severe, life-threatening bleeding that is generally not capable of being staunched when a conventional gauze dressing is applied with pressure to the wound.
