Finishing: Nike polo shirt is dyed without water

Nike of Beaverton, Oregon, USA, has become the first manufacturer of consumer products to introduce a garment (ColorDry polo shirts) dyed using a water-free process (ColorDry) developed in The Netherlands. DyeCoo of Weesp says that its process uses recycled carbon dioxide (CO_2) instead of water and so can save up to 301 of clean water for every shirt that is dyed. The process also helps to save energy and reduces the need for chemical additives, compared with conventional dyeing. Nevertheless, the dyed garment has an intense, saturated colour.
