A multitude of functional inks that could be used tocreate smart bandages are to be developed through amulti-million-Euro project led by the University ofSouthampton in the UK.During the three-year SmartT project, researchers willcreate over 100 smart inks that each emit differentwavelengths of radiation – from the visible spectrumthrough to ultraviolet (UV) – when exposed to an electriccurrent. The technology could be used to produce such assmart bandages that could kill bacteria using UV radiation.
