A 15-ha (37-acre) plant for the manufacture of polyacry-lonitrile (PAN) precursor and carbon fibre has been opened in Isere, France, by Hexcel.The company of Stamford. Connecticut, USA， has invested some €200 million in the plant since it started its construction in September 2014. Hexcel is now able to produce carbon fibre, convert it to textiles and use these in the production of prepreg-all in France.The Isere plant is located near to the company's carbon fibre weaving facility in Les Avenieres 一 where Hexcel is establishing a 3500-m~2 research and development (R&D) laboratory, which is due to open in early 2019 -and its prepreg manufacturing plant in Dagneux.
