Market prospects for PSAs and tapes in Mainland China

The People's Republic of China is a rapidly developing country with a very large population and a tremendous market. The sales volume of pressure sensitive adhesive tapes (PSAT) and labels has increased rapidly from 0.83 billion square meters, which was 4.2% of the world's market in 1992, to 2.26 billion square meters, or 8.6% of the world's market in 1996. This represents the astonishing average growth rate of 28.5% per year. The past and current situation of the PSAT industry in Mainland China is described, and its market prospects are reviewed in the following areas: 1. sales volume of various PSA products, 2. BOPP tapes and paper products, and 3. PVC tapes, double-face tapes and others.
