In real estate, the motto is "location, location, location." For a human settlement on the Moon, the best location may be one close to water, with lots of available sunlight for power, and relatively easy access to and from Earth. But, if your motivation is science, what matters most is the opportunity to make a discovery: a discovery that will rewrite theories of planetary science, justify your lifelong obsession with the Moon, and land you a bit part on the Big Bang Theory. Well, maybe not the latter, but the right location can certainly help you make a meaningful contribution to science.
