Carlos (Charles) Victor de Chapeaurouge and his Cadastral Atlas of Argentina

In the last years of the XIX Century, a Franco Argentinean, Carlos Victor de Chapeurouge, initiated a truly unique project-Argentina's first complete graphic cadastre. The register covered all the rural properties within Argentina's landmass of more than one million square miles, delineating also the country's hydrography, hypsography, roads, telegraph lines, railroads, and international, province, and district boundaries. Aware that very little if anything on Chapeaurouge and his extraordinary work is found in English and, for that matter, in Spanish, we decided to amend the records with this narrative.
