We present the novel grammar language CGA++ for the proceduralrnmodeling of architecture. While existing grammar-based approachesrncan produce stunning results, they are limited in whatrnmodeling scenarios can be realized. In particular, many contextsensitiverntasks are precluded, not least because within the rulesrnspecifying how one shape is refined, the necessary knowledgernabout other shapes is not available. Transcending such limitations,rnCGA++ significantly raises the expressiveness and offers a genericrnand integrated solution for many advanced procedural modelingrnproblems. Pivotally, CGA++ grants first-class citizenship to shapes,rnenabling, within a grammar, directly accessing shapes and shaperntrees, operations on multiple shapes, rewriting shape (sub)trees, andrnspawning new trees (e.g., to explore multiple alternatives). Thernnew linguistic device of events allows coordination across multiplernshapes, featuring powerful dynamic grouping and synchronization.rnVarious examples illustrate CGA++, demonstrating solutions to previouslyrninfeasible modeling challenges.
