Dining out on the future

The institute's annual dinner took place a few weeks ago. It i: now firmly established as a highlight in the City's business calendar, bringing the profession together with policymakers and other business leaders. Over recent years the dinner has become a much more international affair. I was delighted this year to welcome European commissioner Frits Bolkestein as our guest of honour, particularly at a time when the European Commission (EC) is devoting so much of its time and energies towards the accountancy profession!
