Despite their insistent claims to the contrary, the perception of a Big Four retreat from the regions refuses to dissipate - and the mid-tier apparently continues to benefit. Nationally, the Group A firms - Grant Thornton, BDO Stoy Hayward, Baker Tilly, PKF and Smith & Williamson - occupy the top five places outside the Big Four in Accountancy's Top 60 - but who's really leading the way in each of the various regions?
