Warnings of an imminent economic downturn seem to have been a permanent fixture for at least the last five years despite house prices continuing to rocket, salaries growing and corporate and consumer credit being snapped up like it's going out of fashion. Economic doom-mongering is so often spouted that it seems the public has become immune to the consequences that an economy on a downward spiral can have on everyday life.
