When MGI Wenham Major exploded into the ranks of Accountancy's top 60 firms this year (July issue, p29), some seasoned observers must have shaken their heads at the injustice of it. How could this Birmingham-based practice, with a smaller staff than many of its higher-ranked peers, apparently come from nowhere, confidently leap-frog over several top 60 perennials and snatch the 44th spot?
