The number of accountants occupying the top position at the UK's largest companies has fallen once again. There are now just 16 accountant chief executives in the FTSE 100, compared with 20 a year ago. After a turbulent number of years when few months passed without a chief executive being unceremoniously dumped from his post (usually because of the poor financial performance of the company), the role of CEO, with a few exceptions, seems to have regained an element of stability. One in 10 of the FTSE 100 chief executives has now held the position for 10 years or more.
