BSkyB abandons market capitalisation for calculating recoverable amount

British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) has moved to the value-in-use method for impairment testing of its Broadcast unit. Previously, the UK broadcasting company's treatment was to use the difference between the market capitalisation of the parent company and the total of value-in-use calculations of its remaining cash-generating units as the recoverable amount of its Broadcast unit.
