I've often wondered why, when you mention 'sustainability', so many people get glazed looks on their faces. After all, there are no down sides: sustainability is about being good for the planet, good for profit and good for business. It is in many ways, I believe, part of the new responsible capitalism and as such it has to be the future of business. Is it because sustainability connotes the brown rice and sandals brigade? Tree huggers? Environmental activists? Or is it because the word covers such a wide range of activities and possibilities that it's hard to wrap one's brains round what it really means?
