Businessman Clive Parritt has taken over as ICAEW president for 2011 /12. He received the presidential badge of office from outgoing president Gerald Russell (left) at the June institute council meeting.In his new role, he will be supported by general practitioner Mark Spofforth as deputy president and Deloitte partner Martyn Jones as vice president.In his inaugural speech, Parritt said he wanted to ensure that business took full advantage of the expertise and skills of ICAEW chartered accountants as the economy recovered. 'I believe passionately that accountants are not an add-on or optional, but lie at the heart of any successful business.
