HMRC PUSHES AHEAD WITH REAL TIME INFORMATION

Seasoned HM Revenue & Customs watchers will find it no surprise that the tax authority is to press ahead with its real time information (RTI) plans. Work on data quality is set to begin in October this year (already ironically known by some as Project Sisyphus) and a pilot is to start in April next year using volunteer employers and software developers. Assuming that the pilot runs successfully, HMRC expects to mandate the use of RTI in less than two years' time (April 2013) with all employers using it by October 2013.
