Caravan site operators will be interested in the change of policy announced by HMRC in Brief 05/12 which came into effect from 1 March 2012. The change affects pitch hires lasting less than a year. Whereas previously, such leases could be treated as exempt as long as the site was not subject to periods in which no occupation was allowed, that will no longer be the case in most situations.
