As part of the continuing strategy of reducing unnecessary bureaucracy via the 'Red Tape Challenge', the government has issued a consultation paper with a view to simplifying filing requirements for companies. These are the key proposals: Annual return: The government makes three suggestions in relation to requirement to file an annual return: removing this requirement altogether and relying instead on event-driven filings; an annual requirement to confirm there have been no changes; or retaining the requirement but making it easier for companies to file the return at the same time as filing their accounts.
