The European Commission (EC) has launched a public consultation on the impact of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in the EU. It will examine a range of issues with a particular focus on whether the adoption of IFRS improved the efficiency of EU capital markets by increasing the transparency and comparability of financial statements. The results of the consultation will be issued in a technical report that will feed into a larger evaluation report to be presented to the EU Council of Ministers and the European Parliament later this year on IAS Regulation.
