FAR TOO MUCH RED TAPE

For many organisations, submitting a PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) has become routine procedure every tax year. The process whereby an employer settles the tax liabilities associated with minor expenses and benefits in kind has recently been branded as 'burdensome' by the Office of Tax Simplification (OTS), which is calling for the system to be made more flexible. Although still at discussion stage following a recent consultation, a revision of the way PSAs are applied for and submitted could bring benefits across the business spectrum.
