EXTRACTIVE REPORTING UPDATED TO COMPLY WITH EITI STANDARD

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has updated its guidance for oil, gas, quarrying and mining companies on compliance with the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) to meet international standards for openness around the management of revenues from natural resources, following publication of its first report. In May 2013, the UK announced its intention to sign up to EITI and in October 2014 it became an EITI candidate country. The latest update notes that on 15 April 2016, the UK published its first EITI report, covering the 2014 reporting cycle, accounting for £3.24bn in revenue from the sector.
