HMRC LEADERSHIP FAILING, SAY MAJORITY OF TAX STAFF

HMRC employees are less content than most other civil servants, while 70% say they are not positive about the department's leadership and ability to manage change in an official government survey of staff satisfaction levels. The HMRC engagement index has increased by 2% to 45%, its highest point ever, but still below the civil service benchmark of 58%. Detailed responses to HMRC's seventh annual civil service people survey suggest employees identify strongly with their teams, but have reservations about senior management.
