摘要

The recent article by Chris Leonard in ATTCC Review regarding the importance (and benefits) of employing thorough preparation procedures prior to dyeing reminded me of the many investigations that I have conducted overrnthe years wherein inadequate preparation procedures were found to be responsible for appearance- (and, some times, performance-) related defects in finished knit or woven fabrics.rnDue to the demand in today's market for stretch knit fabrics-jersey or rib knit fabrics produced with a combination of spun cotton (or rayon) and stretch yarns-and the nature of the wet processing employed for this type of fabric, barre in finished fabrics of this type is often found to be attributable to the combination of heat setting the fabric in the greige state, and the lack of removal of the non-fibrous content (waxes, oils, etc.) of the greige fabric.
