Most people don't know where test methods comernfrom. Consumers, for example, very likely don't care that there are quality control test methods that help keep their clothes from fading in the wash-they just want the color of their shirt to stay bright. Even many textile professionals who have heard of AATCC may not realize all the work involved in creating the test methods used throughout the textile industry.rnAATCC test methods are used to test various aspects of performance, primarily to do with color or "wet processing" (such as the washfastness of color or finishes) of every garment, fabric, or textile product manufactured, imported, and sold in the U.S., in much of North America, and in many parts of the world. Bringing a new test method to publication is the work of many volunteers from many different parts of the textile industry, working to benefit the industry as a whole. Walking through the steps of test method development may illuminate the importance and necessity of these tests for all textile professionals.
