John J. Hanlon of Amsterdam, N.Y., USA passed away September 30, 2008. Hanlon joined AATCC in 1946 and was recognized for his first 50 years of service in 1996. Hanlon was a founding member of the Hudson-Mohawk section where he served as chair, vice-chair, national councilor, and Intersectional Paper Competition committee member and judge. Hanlon also received the section's Jack Epelberg Award for meritorious service. He was a member of the technical and executive committees on research as well as several research committees, including RA36, Color Measurement Test Methods. In 1977, Hanlon received the Harold C. Chapin award for service to the Association. He was a senior life member and a long-time sustaining member of AATCC at the time of his death.
