The biggest challenge for the energy industry in the next 100 years involves more than just discovering where the resources are. It's also about where they aren't. Energy poverty affects populations around the world. According to a World Bank study released in April, more than a billion people have no access to electricity. Another 3 billion without access to fuel rely on dung, wood or other biomass for cooking and heating, resulting in indoor and outdoor air pollution that causes about 4.3 million deaths each year.
